Selling Sweet Masala Corn and Warm Leaf Porridge (23rd-24th January 2025)
Accounting and Finance Club organized a food stall near the Business Studies canteen, selling Sweet Masala Corn and Warm Leaf Porridge. The primary objective of this activity was fundraising. The event provided a delicious and nutritious start to the day for both students and faculty, and the funds raised will support upcoming club activities. The event was a success, helping to promote club activities while serving the campus community with a delightful treat.


Webinar on “Developing Investment Knowledge Through the Stock Market” (1st February 2025)
The Accounting and Finance Club organized a webinar on stock market investments, with Mr. Arumainayagam Visaahan, a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), as the speaker. The session, held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, was attended by nearly 90 students. Mr. Visaahan shared his expertise in investment strategies, providing valuable insights into the stock market. The webinar was a success, with 90 students participating and gaining practical knowledge to improve their investment skills.

 


Magic Carnival (20th February 2025)
Looking ahead, the Accounting and Finance Club is excited to announce the Magic Carnival scheduled for 20th February 2025, at 2:00 PM. This event promises to be an exciting experience, featuring a Magic Show, Fun Games, and a Food Stall. The event’s primary objective is to raise funds for the club’s future activities. This event is expected to draw a large crowd, providing both entertainment and an opportunity for the club to further engage with students, faculty, and the community while raising funds.


O/L Support Commerce Seminar at Puthukulam Maha Vidyalayam (7th March 2025)
The Accounting and Finance Club successfully conducted a Commerce seminar for O/L students at Puthukulam Maha Vidyalayam on 7th March 2025. This outreach initiative aimed to support and inspire young learners in their academic journey, particularly in the field of commerce. The session was met with enthusiasm from both students and staff, creating a meaningful and engaging learning experience. The club extends its heartfelt gratitude to the school community for their warm welcome and active participation, making the event a valuable contribution to educational development.


Undergraduate Internship Guidance Program(18th June 2025)
The Accounting and Finance Club successfully organized a guidance program on undergraduate internship on 18th June 2025 at SH4 Hall. The session was conducted by Mr. Nadarajah Pradeepan, Lecturer in Finance, Department of Finance and Accountancy. The main objective of the program was to provide students with a clear understanding of what an internship is, how to find a suitable placement, what to do during the internship period, and the university’s requirements for completion. The session also included real-life insights and personal experiences shared by two senior students via Zoom, which added great value to the discussion. The event was well-received by the students, and it helped them gain confidence and clarity about their upcoming internship journey.


Digital Aid Online Support Program
Digital Aid is an online support program initially started by our seniors to help commerce stream students with their studies and digital learning. As third-year students, we proudly continued this initiative for the third consecutive year, aiming to guide and support our juniors through virtual sessions, sharing useful tips, resources, and motivation.


Quiz Competition 2025/strong>
The Accounting and Finance Club organized an exciting Quiz Competition on 23rd July 2025 at BTT4 Hall. This event challenged participants with 50 thought-provoking questions that tested their knowledge, speed, and strategy. The competition created an energetic atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and healthy rivalry among the students.

Undergraduate Research Symposium 2025 – “Innovative Research in Accounting and Finance” (25th July 2025)
The Accounting and Finance Club successfully conducted the Undergraduate Research Symposium on 25th July 2025 under the theme “Innovative Research in Accounting and Finance.” The event provided a platform for final-year students to present their research findings to faculty members, undergraduates, and industry professionals.
As part of the symposium, a Panel Discussion was organized on the topic “Future of Digital Finance in Sri Lanka.” The session featured experienced academics and industry experts who shared their insights on emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in the digital finance sector. This discussion provided students with practical knowledge and encouraged them to think critically about the future of the financial industry. The symposium not only enhanced the research culture but also encouraged knowledge sharing and motivated students to pursue academic excellence.

2024

Guidance Program for Undergraduate Research and Internship
Guidance program was organized by Accounting and Finance Cub on 7th August 2024 for Final Year students from all disciplines regarding their Undergraduate Research and Internship. Mein aim of this workshop is to provide a clear understanding on How to do an undergraduate Research and Internship program. The resource person for this program is senior Lecturer Department of Finance and Accountancy University of Vavuniya, Mr.G.R.M.Gamlath. The session was successful and very helpful for the participants.


Corn Stall on Spirit Cricket Match
A corn stall was put on spirit cricket match day 4th August 2024 at university playground. This activity was conducted in the aim of Fund raising and providing the delicious taste of corn to students.


A Webinar
A webinar on Role of Artificial intelligence in accounting was organized by Accounting and Finance club, University of Vavuniya. The webinar was conducted via zoom on 18th of June 2024 from 7.00PM to 8.30PM. Ms.Litharsini Kokilan lecturer (Probationary)in Accounting at University of Jaffna was invited as a resource person to conduct this webinar. It was organized with the motive of providing knowledge on Artificial Intelligence in Accounting mainly focused for Accounting and Finance specialization students. And the session was successfully conducted with 270+ participants.


Solid waste Management Programme
Solid Waste management program was conducted by Accounting and Finance club on 9th of April 2024. Dustbins for this program was donated by Vavuniya South Pradeshya sabha. The aim of this event is to maintain a proper solid waste management system on university premises.


Launching of Club T-Shirt
Accounting and Finance club launched their club T-shirts on 9th of April 2024. The objective of T-shirt launch was to raise fund for conducting future club activities.


Support Seminar for G.C.E Ordinary Level Students
Support seminar for ordinary level for commerce subject was conducted by Accounting and Finance club on 21st of March 2024 at Vavuniya puthukulam National school for the students of Vavuniya puthukulam National school and Vavuniya tharanikkulam Ganesh Vidyalayam. Objective of this event is to provide educational support for these students in commerce subject and to face their final examination successfully.


Digital Aid 3rd Programme
Digital Aid 3rd program was organized by Accounting and Finance club on 13th of March 2024 and made a fresh step in you tube platform. You tube channel was created for Accounting and Finance Club to enhance the digital Aid program. It was conducted in both Sinhala and Tamil medium. This program was to improve the knowledge of the ordinary level as well as advanced level students in commerce stream.


Free Juice Stall
A free juice stall was opened by the Accounting and Finance club on the 21st of February 2024 at the University premises for the refreshment of students and staff during the Thai Pongal vizha. This charitable activity aimed to quench the thirst of our students and staff. It was a refreshing experience for us, and we hope it revitalized many students and staff as they faced the height of summer.

Vehicle Wash
Vehicle wash activity conducted by Accounting and Finance Club on 14th of February 2024 at the entrance of University of Vavuniya. Activities include body washing and vacuum cleaning the vehicles. This activity was conducted successfully with the support of all faculty and nonacademic staffs as well as students. The objective of the vehicle wash activity was “Fund raising”. The amount collected was utilized for following club activities.

2023
Shramdana
The Accounting and Finance Society organized a Shramdana activity on 30th August 2023 from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. in the University premises. Students of all years participated in this work. The objective of this activity is to create awareness about the need to keep the environment clean and manage waste.
Beautification of the faculty (photography area)
The accounting and finance club planned and implemented the creation of the photo zone in the university campus and the primary objective of this project was to beautify the university environment. The area chosen was in a beautiful location beside the library premises and behind Balakrishnan Hall. All the members of the Finance and Accounts Department contributed to the project to create this photography area.
Social work – School bag donation
The acc & fin club has made the bag donations to school students under the social work project. We had selected 20 students who are studying at Tharanikkulam Ganesh Vidyalaya in Vavuniya It was held on 17th of August 2023 in the school. This event was successfully held with the support of Our club members the school principal & and the staff. We hope that this will be a small support to the students for their studies. We have collected students’ details from the school principal There are many poor students so we hope to continue this type of project in future also.
Digital aid 2nd program
The accounting club organized and Digital Aid-2 program in commerce from the 1st of August 2023. It was conducted in both Sinhala and Tamil medium by second-year students. From this, we helped to uplift knowledge the of ordinary-level students in commerce subject.
Kristina Park
The Accounting and Finance Club planned to make a Kristina Park on the University premises. As a project, we started to continue from July 01st week 2023. The major aim of this project is to beautify and support deduct warmth in the university environment.
We chose the area which is in front of the library premises and Soosairathnam Hall as a park. All the batches in the Department of Finance and Accounting contributed to this. Through this project, we planted various plants and hope to continue daily watering programmed by 2nd-year students.
Flower Arch
This is one of the green projects which is organized by the Accounting and Finance Club to make the flowers arch. The selected area is the lane which is towards the library building. The purpose of this project is to beautify the lane for taking photos. we started to continue from June 02st week 2023

A Webinar
A webinar was organized by The Department of Accountancy and Finance, Training and Placement Cell and the students’ club on the topic of CAREER DEVELOPMENT AND INVESTMENT IN BANKING. It was held on the 17th of May 2023 from 11.30 AM to 12.30 PM via Zoom the webinar was conducted by T. Kokulan, Executive Officer, Commercial Bank, Vavuniya Branch. The objective of the webinar was to expand the career and investment ideas of Students of the University of Vavuniya.
Film festival
The film festival has been conducted by the Finance and Accountancy Club, Department of Finance and Accountancy, University of Vavuniya on the 10th of May 2023. It was held at Soosairetnam Block (SH4) at 1.30 pm. The Objective of the program was Fundraising. Totally 220 students participated in the program. One ticket was sold for Rs. 100.
Ice cream outlet
An ice cream store was opened by the accountancy and Finance Club, University of Vavuniya for the refreshment of all the students and staff at the AWURUDU FUNCTION (Sinhala and Tamil New Year Function) which was held at the University of Vavuniya playground on the 29th of April 2023. The objective of that store was “FUND RAISING “for educational activities in University of Vavuniya. An amount was collected by selling ice cream and Juice.
Waste management project
The accounting club at the university implemented a waste management project in the Leecher Halls and BS Canteen. The project involved categorizing bins for plastic, polyethene, and paper waste to ensure proper disposal. The aim was to raise awareness about proper waste disposal practices and encourage individuals to dispose of unused items in the dustbin. Stickers were placed in lecture halls, and notices were put up in the canteen to remind all to separate food and polythene items. Overall, the project aimed to promote responsible waste management practices within the university premises.
5s concept
The accounting and finance club of Vavuniya University also implemented the 5s concept in various areas of the campus. They numbered fans and lights in the Balakrishnan block for easy identification by undergraduates. The club also raised awareness about the importance of silence during lectures by placing stickers in lecture halls. In addition, they restored new boards in washrooms, categorized them by gender, and placed stickers to remind individuals to place plates and water glasses in the right manner after using them in the BS canteen. The aim was to promote a clean and organized environment on campus through the 5s concept.
Arrange all holiday wishes
As Accounting & Finance Club has started to post festival wishes for important various days. This project’s objective is to keep peace and harmony among the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim students and be aware of the importance of the day.

2022
Career Guidance seminar
The Accounting and Finance Club organized a career guidance seminar on the 28th of October 2022, from 01.30 to 03.30 p.m. at SH Hall. This seminar was conducted by. we received good feedback from the audience. The discussion in this seminar was uplifting positive thinking among students on how to overcome their challenges.
Accounting Day Quiz Competition by Accounting and Finance Club
A quiz competition which was organized by the Department of Finance and Accountancy, as the Accounting and Finance Club and the Department of Finance and Accountancy jointly celebrate Accounting Day – 2022 for the very first time, was held on the 26th of October 2022 from 3 pm to 4 pm in the BH-4 hall of the Faculty of Business Studies. 93 students were attempted in the Quiz Competition. The first three winners will be awarded the certificate on Accounting Day.
Digital Aid evaluate Ceremony
This Digital Aid Ceremony was organized by the Department of Finance and Accounting on the 05th of October 2022. This event was done to appreciate those who are supported by the Digital Aid-1 program. Department lecturers offered certificates to them.



Waste Management
This is one of the projects which is done by the accounting club. In this project, we categorized bins as namely plastic, polyethene and paper. At Soosairathnam Hall and BS Canteen nearly. The aim of conducting waste management is a practice to exclude the waste items in a proper manner.
Beautification
Under the Beautification project, the Acc & Fin club selected the canteen area and did the drawings in the canteen on the 29th of June 2022. That project helped to release the stress of students. Our club members actively participated and did that project. Because of those drawings, the canteen looks very beautiful and students also take photos at the canteen.
Shramadana
Accounting and Finance Club organized an engagement activity as a Shramadana campaign on the 28th of June 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the university premises. All three batches participated in this activity. The purpose of this activity is to be aware of the need to keep the environment clean and maintain nature.
