Biography

Prof. Yogarajah Nanthagopan is the present Dean and Professor in Project Management at the Faculty of Business Studies, University of Vavuniya, Sri Lanka. He obtained his PhD in Project Management from Bournemouth University, UK. Nanthagopan is the founder and the first coordinator of the Project Management (PM) degree programme at the Faculty of Business Studies. This PM degree programme is the pioneering undergraduate programme in Sri Lanka.

With 20 years of experience in teaching and consulting in Business and Project Management, he has served as a consultant in over eighteen projects for national and international organizations. He has published more than thirty research articles in indexed and peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented over fifty research papers at national and international conferences. He is the author of a textbook titled “Project Management Fundamentals”. His research interests include project management, organizational development, and strategic management.

  • Consultant: Evaluation of the Project Component – Staff Transitioning Process of the Demining Workforce (MAG) – 2024
    • The primary objective of this consultancy is to conduct the final evaluation of the Staff Transition Component of the PSOP project and provide an independent assessment of the implementation process, achievements of indicators, outputs, and effects of the intervention. The evaluation findings will be used to inform MAG’s future programming and address any issues identified during the evaluation process.
  • Consultant: External Evaluation of Wellbeing Programme for Vulnerable Boys & Girls in the Center, VAROD Life & CBR Programme (VAROD) – 2023
    • The evaluation assessed the impact and effectiveness of the program in improving the well-being and social inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWD) and their families. It covered various areas including mental and physical well-being, family reunification, social participation, health improvements, and income generation.

    • Conducted a capacity and needs assessment of the Women Rural Development Societies (WRDS) in Jaffna district, mapping WRDS roles and activities, identifying training/material/equipment needs, and assessing their capacity to support vulnerable communities, including refugees.
