I am delighted to welcome everyone to the Department of Project Management (DPM). The Department strives to provide the country with a pool of high-caliber trained graduates who can apply the theoretical knowledge learned in PM in their organizational life. The strength of the Department lies in its highly qualified and versatile teaching staff. Our students, who come from every area in Sri Lanka, enjoy studying among many ethnic groups while also learning about nearby languages and cultures.

The Project Management honors degree program was initially commenced in 2015. The DPM was established on the 22nd of March 2021. The DPM offers a bachelor’s degree in Project Management for undergraduate students. The commencement of the PM honors degree has become a new inspiration among the Faculty of Business Studies undergraduate students, as evidenced by the increased number of students enrolled in the Project Management specialization from 2015.

The Department has the MOU with the Project Management Institute Sri Lankan Chapter (PMISL), an excellent opportunity for students to enjoy course exemptions and discounts on the payment of professional courses with PMI. The Department enhances students’ knowledge, skills, attitude, and community enrichment through the activities of the Project Management students’ club (PM Club). It integrates the Project Management students’ aspirations in the field of Project Management and natures their skills and capabilities in interpersonal and intrapersonal communication, problem solving, critical decision making, time management, analytical thinking, entrepreneurship, community concern and good governance, sustainability, event management and emotional intelligence in order to induce success both in personal and professional life and to promote career opportunities, awareness of PM degree program, preparing for the professional exams and community and industry interaction.

The DPM is triggering the networking and collaborations with the community and industrial organizations for increasing the shared capacities for well serving to the students and community.
