Community Enrichment 4 -Shramadana Campaign
The Shramadana Campaign, organized by the Project Management Club of the University of Vavuniya, took place at the VAROD Disability Centre. The event, focused on environmental cleanliness and community support, began at 3:30 PM and wrapped up at 5:30 PM. Volunteers came together to
Promote a cleaner and more inclusive environment, contributing to a positive change for the center’s residents and the surrounding area.
Community Enrichment 3 – Community Rehabilitation Need Assessment Survey
The project management club, Faculty of business studies university of Vavuniya conducted a community rehabilitation need assessment program in collaboration with VAROD organization on 19th August 2023 at VAROD Organization, Pambaimadu, Vavuniya. Our club committed to contributing positively to society through educational and community focused initiatives which aims to empower and uplift the local community through workshop and preparation of the need assessment report with local and disable community.
The following tasks were conducted:
- Defined the scope and goals for the community needs assessment
- Identified stakeholders and target audience & outreach methods
- Established the data you for further analysis
- Found the right community needs assessment tools
- Formed Community Rehabilitation committee
- Conducted Need Assessment Survey (Leadership – Group Presidents, Management – secretaries, Economic- treasurers)
- Need Assessment Report Preparation & Submission
These joint efforts can create a positive impact on the community and foster lasting relationship that benefits all parties involved.
Community Enrichment 2 – Community Awareness Program Through Displaying Film ‘Thoovanam Movie’
As the Project Management Club of the Faculty of Business Studies, University of Vavuniya, we entered into the community awareness activity by showing Thoovanam, a Sri Lankan Tamil movie, to university students, staff, and outside people as well in order to provide the knowledge of the traditional life and its failure. For that, we got tickets from the team of that movie, and we sold them out to university students, staff, and outside people. Also, movie displayed at Smart Lecture Hall, Faculty of Applied Science, UOV on 17th May 2023 to the university community and at Amudha theater, Vavuniya Town on 17th May 2023 to all outside participants to create awareness.
Thoovanam is a Sri Lankan Tamil film directed by Dr. Shivansuthan, and all the cast and crew of this movie are from Sri Lanka. This movie totally covers the Sri Lankan Tamil people’s tradition, changes of the modern life, and culture and all other good things. As a project management club, we intended to raise social awareness among students and other people by showing this movie. In the university, there were 50 staff members and 250 students who came to watch this movie and 119 outside people came to the Amudha Theater to watch this movie in the evening show. We successfully completed this social awareness program.
Community Enrichment 1 – The Life Of Giving
The Project Management Club of the Faculty of Business Studies, University of Vavuniya organized a community engagement project on 28th of January 2022.
Through this project, some learning materials that vital for grade one to five students of AI/ Aysha Vidyalayam were provided. The learning materials worth of 5000 Rs. Were provided by the PM Club based on their needs.
The president of PM Club Mr.R.C.T.Rajapaksha and all other Ex-Co members were joined with this event. Event was started with the welcome speech one of our Ex-Co member Mr.I.M.Manasir. Once completed the welcome speech, The principle of the school Mr.M.Faizel delivered his thoughts about the service of the PM Club. Afterwards all the school materials were provided by Ex-Co members.
The ultimate purpose of the event was to serve the poor students who are actually suffering with the lack of facilities to study even their primary education under the concept of “Life of Giving” as we planned to conduct more of such kind of activities in future as a series.
The event was completely organized and completed under a long term concept of Mrs.S.Mathivathany, Senior Advisor and Senior Treasurer of the Project Management Club. Engaging in community service as the first physical activity of this new year, was a huge approach and experience of our Ex-Co members and it made a great influence to other students of the University.
