The collaboration between the Project Management Club (PM Club) of the University of Vavuniya and the Upcountry Education Development Society (UEDS) marks a significant milestone in fostering the Awareness Program on Project Sponsorship. This report outlines the proceedings of the event, highlighting the key moments that transpired during this valuable partnership campaign.

  1. Address by PM Club President

The event commenced with an opening address by the President of the PM Club. The President warmly welcomed all attendees and emphasized the importance of partnerships in enhancing the educational experience of students. The President highlighted the shared commitment of both organizations toward promoting academic excellence and development.

  1. Thanking and Appreciation to UEDS

The senior advisor and treasurer of the PM Club took the stage to express sincere gratitude to the Upcountry Education Development Society for their generous sponsorship. The sponsorship, consisting of a computer and a photocopy machine, was recognized as a valuable contribution to the advancement of the club’s activities. The senior advisor and treasurer conveyed the club’s deep appreciation for UEDS’s support, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on students’ learning opportunities.

  1. Address by HOD

The Head of the Department (HOD) addressed the gathering to acknowledge the partnership between the PM Club and UEDS. The HOD commended UEDS’s dedication to supporting educational initiatives and highlighted the alignment between their values and the university’s mission. The HOD expressed confidence that the sponsored equipment would greatly enhance the club’s ability to facilitate valuable learning experiences for students interested in project management.

  1. Handover of Equipment

A key highlight of the event was the official handover of the sponsored computer and photocopy machine. Representatives from UEDS and the PM Club jointly unveiled and presented the equipment. This symbolic gesture underscored the tangible impact of collaboration between educational institutions and community organizations.

  1. Speech & Awareness Program on Project Sponsorship by UEDS President

The President of the Upcountry Education Development Society took the stage to share insights into their organization’s goals and aspirations. The UEDS President expressed their pleasure in supporting initiatives that empower students and contribute to educational advancement. The President spoke about the significance of partnerships between educational institutions and societal organizations in fostering holistic development.

Then, He did an awareness Program on Project Sponsorship. He explained about Understanding Project Sponsorship, Role of the Project Sponsor, Importance of Project Sponsorship, Selecting the Right Project Sponsor, Collaboration between Project Manager and Sponsor, Real-life Case Studies and Ensuring Accountability during the project sponsorship. This session was with a question-and-answer session. Allowed participants to seek clarification, share their thoughts, and address any concerns they may have about project sponsorship.

The event concluded with a sense of achievement and anticipation for the positive outcomes that would result from this collaboration. The sponsorship from UEDS not only represented the provision of equipment but also signified the strengthening of ties between the university and the community. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to the betterment of education and the upliftment of students.

Since there are number of needs of implementing community engagement activities, the Project Management Club of the Faculty of Business Studies of University of Vavuniya has organized an essential SHRAMADANA CAMPAIGN REGARDING MALARIA DAY on 25th April 2022 from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm at the hostel premises of Vavuniya University. With the contribution of all 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year batches who are following Project Management stream were highly participated for the campaign.
The selected area for the campaign is both boys and girls hostel premises. With a long term mission of Mrs.S.Mathivathany, the Project Management Club implemented this program as their community engagement project.
The purpose of organizing this project with the contribution of undergraduate students, to let them aware of the neediness of keeping the environment cleanly and to let them feel about responsibility that they have to do as a human. With a concept of “HUMAN CAN PROTECT HUMAN” the implemented the project successfully.
