The Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Vavuniya, organized a field visit to Omega Line, Vavuniya, on 14th February 2026. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure in Employee Health and Safety and Advanced Human Resource Management (HRM) practices in the garment manufacturing industry.
During the visit, the management team explained key advanced HR functions such as in recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, employee engagement and welfare practices. Special attention was given to advanced HRM approaches and health and safety practices adopted by the company to improve productivity and employee satisfaction.
The organization also highlighted its strong commitment to employee health and safety, including workplace safety measures, hygiene standards, and employee well-being initiatives. Students were able to observe the safe working environment and understand the importance of health and safety policies in industrial settings
Overall, the field visit was highly informative and helped students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world HR practices, contributing to their academic and professional development.
