The Econ Club, Department of Business Economics, Faculty of Business Studies engaged with the plantation activities in parallel with Late professor A. Pushpanathan memorial plantation program on 3rd February 2026 from 4.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the backyard premises of the Balakrishnan Block. The primary objective of this activity was to promote environmental awareness among students and to encourage a sense of responsibility towards environmental protection and sustainability. Through this initiative, the Club aimed to contribute to the development of a greener and more environmentally conscious university community.
Members of the Econ Club actively participated in planting saplings and cleaning the surrounding area. The activity not only enhanced the greenery of the campus but also strengthened teamwork, cooperation, and social responsibility among students. The activity was successfully conducted in a well-organized manner and received positive engagement from participants.
The expenses for the plantation activity were borne by the Economics Club. A total of Rs. 1,150 was incurred, comprising Rs. 750 for the purchase of five plants at a unit cost of Rs. 150 each, and Rs. 400 for fertilizer, with two units purchased at Rs. 200 each. Overall, the Memorial Plantation Programme was a meaningful initiative that contributed positively to environmental sustainability and campus beautification.
