Holi Festival 2023 – A Colorful Celebration of Unity
The Marketing Club of the Department of Marketing Management, University of Vavuniya is thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the Holi Festival 2023. On July 24, 2023, students of faculty of business studies came together to celebrate a joyous occasion to show the colors of unity and camaraderie.
During the festival, students witnessed an outpouring of enthusiasm and participation from university vibrant community. Live music and dance performances set the stage on fire, while the color run and fun games brought smiles to everyone’s faces. The delightful Holi delicacies added sweetness to the day, symbolizing the warmth of togetherness.

Book Donation Drive 2023 [Empowering Young Minds through Education]
The Marketing Club of the Department of Marketing Management, University of Vavuniya takes immense pride in its recent philanthropic initiative, the Book Donation Drive-2023. With a shared vision of making education accessible to all, the club organized this drive to empower young minds who were Vavuniya school students.
On the memorable days of July 19, 2023, students united together to collect and donate educational books to four deserving schools: V/ Al Aksha Maha Vidyalam, V/ Etambagaskada Vidyalaya,V/ Nedunkulam G.S.M.S and V/Velikulam High Tamil Mixed School. The mission of this activity was simple yet impactful – to induce the passion for learning and create a brighter future for the students.
Through the collective efforts of dedicated club members and the generosity of contributors, the club was able to make a significant contribution to the Vavuniya community. The smiles and excitement on the faces of the students when receiving the books were heartwarming, reaffirming the positive change that books can bring to their lives.
The club believes that education is the key to unlock a world of opportunities, and your support has been instrumental in opening those doors for these young learners. By nurturing their thirst for knowledge, the club aspires to inspires a new generation of leaders, thinkers, and change-makers.

Placing Directional Sign Boards
The Marketing Club of the Department of Marketing Management placed directional sign boards within the Faculty of Business Studies premises on June 15, 2023. This activity helps students, staff, especially visitors/invitees to navigate places or orient themselves in a physical environment.

Generated Fund through Lottery Raffle Draw
The Marketing Club of the Department of Marketing Management generated fund through a lottery raffle by selling tickets within the university and outside people. The event was held in the Board room of Faculty of Business Studies on the 3rd of May 2023 at 9.00 am with the presence of Prof.T.Mangaleswaran, Vice Chancellor of University of Vavuniya, Dr.Y.Nanthagopan, Dean of Faculty of Business Studies, Mr.B.Balathas, Assistant Bursar of University of Vavuniya, Heads of the Departments, Assistant Registrar, staff and students of the faculty.
A Webinar on “Social Media Marketing”
The Marketing Club of the Faculty of Business Studies organized a webinar on “Social Media Marketing” on 18th of April, 2023 from 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm. Social Media Community Manager at Roy’s Villa Hotel, Mr. D. M. R. Dissanayake was the resource person.
An Awareness Program on Obtaining a New Driving License for Light Vehicles
The Marketing Club of Faculty of Business Studies organized an awareness program on “Obtaining New Driving License for Light Vehicles” on 15th February 2023 from 10.00 am to 11.00 am. Ms. Archana, Managing Officer of Manju Driving School, Mr. Udayan, Employee of Manju Driving School, Ms. Rasakumari, Employee of Manju Driving School, Mr. Dusyanthan, Employee of Manju Driving School were served as resource persons. They explained the step-by-step process of getting a driving license and the main benefits of getting a driving license with them through Marketing Club. 55 students participated in it. It was an effective awareness program especially for the students who are looking for driving license during their education days in Vavuniya.
2022
Mini Market Stall
A mini market stalls were put up by the Marketing Club students on 4th, 5th and 6th of July by targeting the people who came for the silver jubilee function and RCBS conference organized by the Faculty of Business Studies. The following market ideas were implemented:
• T-shirt tie- die stall
• Fresh juice & ice cream stall
• Handmade bamboo products stall
• Chocolate decorated cookie stall

Purpose of mini- market idea
Making profits through the stalls and creating awareness for marketing undergraduates to use their theoretical knowledge in practical.
1. T-shirt tie-die stall
Buying materials from a local businessman and planning to sell a t-shirt for rs. 1000/= and earn rs. 200/= profit from each.
2. Fresh juice and ice cream stall
Buying ice creams and corns from a local buyer, ‘Yarl ice cream’ and planning to sell them for rs.50/= and earn rs. 10/= profit from each.
For fresh juice fruits and other ingredients are going to buy from local market and serves in one-day cups. And planned for earn rs 15/= profit from each and planned for discard the waste in proper way.
3. Handmade bamboo products stall
For the items of this stall we don’t have to spend cost for main ingredients and this items mainly relay on manpower and creativity. Here anyone can buy their products under rs.500/=.
4. Chocolate decorated cookies stall
For this stall planning to buy ingredients from agents in vavuniya and the uniqueness of this stall is ‘the customers can decorate their cookies by them selves’.

The project on “uploaded the department video in the Faculty YouTube”
The marketing club of the faculty of business studies has organized a project on uploaded the faculty video in You Tube. It was a useful project to all the students. On 28th of June,2022 was uploaded in You Tube. We got superb achievement. 176 subscribers, 570 views, 140 likes. This is the first video of marketing club.
Kite Festival
The marketing club of the faculty of business studies has organized a project on” kite festival”. On 26th of June 2022. There were 20 students, 04 staffs from the department of marketing management contributed to conduct the kite festival in the University of Vavuniya playground at 3.00 PM. 100 posters were printed by the marketing club for promoting the event.

A Webinar on “eBay Business Guide – Direct Shipping and Drop shipping”
The Marketing Club of the Faculty of Business Studies has organized a webinar on “eBay Business Guide – Direct Shipping and Drop shipping” on 27th March, 2022 from 10.00am to 11.00am via Zoom. Mr. Isuru Gamage, Online Entrepreneur, Lecturer and Director/Administration and Resource in Witsway Academy, was the resource person for this webinar and he provided practical exposure to the participants on how we can deal with eBay business and yield part-time revenue. He shared his real online business experiences and challenges he encountered through-out his career. This webinar focused on all the Business Studies and Project Management student and nearly 40 students participated and enjoyed the session. It was a prominent session for the participants to enhance their ability in participating online businesses.
The Project on Supporting Differently Abled People
The Marketing Club of the Faculty of Business Studies has organized a project on supporting differently abled people who are being looked after by VAROD in Vavuniya. It has been running since 2009 under the management of Claretian Community. At present, nearly 80 differently able people are being cared by them. On 1st of March, 2022, twenty (20) students and five (05) staff from the Department of Marketing Management visited VAROD at around 2.30pm. We organized a Siramadhana Campaign to clean the shrublands around the VAROD premises. Then we engaged in few recreational games and activities with the evening refreshment arranged by the staff of the Department of Marketing Management. Finally, the event came to the end at around 6.30pm. This project is an iconic event of the Department of Marketing Management at its beginning of the journey.
The project on “Supporting the School Students”
The Marketing Club of the Faculty of Business Studies has organized a project on “Supporting the School Students” with the help of Lions Club of Thirunelvely Circle. The Club members have identified 42 students from different districts and given stationary items for the value of Rs. 600 per head. The Lions Club of Thirunelvely Circle has donated Rs. 25,200 for this project by Cheque. This project was successfully executed on 15th and 16th of January, 2022.

A Webinar on “Pave your own way in the digital world”
The Marketing Club of the Faculty of Business Studies has organized a webinar on “Pave your own way in the digital world” on 15th of October, 2021 at 4.00pm. Mr. Sharanyan Sharma was the resource person, who is an award-winning entrepreneur in the digital business and also a certified digital marketing trainer. He shared his evolutionary progress of success in the digital business and explained the importance of digital marketing in ever challenging world. Almost 175 students have partaken in this webinar. It was a useful session for the students, especially who are specialized in marketing management.
The project on “Feeding the Wandering Animals and Birds during the Covid-19 Pandemic Situation”
The Marketing Club of the Faculty of Business Studies has initiated and organized the project on “Feeding the wandering animals and birds during this Covid-19 Pandemic situation” with the help of Marketing Management Honours Degree students. Lot of animals and birds are wandering to get their prey and still struggling and dying day by day. To serve those animals and birds, our Marketing Club has organized this huge project initially with our students. The students have fed the animals and birds near to their homes and streets. The marketing club activity encouraged cities to allow people to feed street animals during the lockdown because without that aid, large numbers of animals would “suffer and die”. So, this activity helping animals fulfill. Our team are currently on standby and ready to response to whatever.
