The 1st Memorial Lecture in honour of Late Professor Ambalam Pushpanathan was successfully held on 03rd February 2026 at the University of Vavuniya. The event was organized by the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Business Studies.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. B. Nimalathasan on the theme “Entrepreneurial Mindset and Economic Transformation in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.” The lecture provided valuable insights and inspiration to academics, students, and practitioners alike.
The event was graced by the presence of family members of the late professor, faculty members, deans, university staff, and students.
As a tribute to the enduring legacy of Late Prof. Ambalam Pushpanathan, Mrs. V. Pushpanathan generously donated LKR 2 million to the University of Vavuniya by handing over a fixed deposit to establish two Gold Medals:
- For BBM (Honours) students specializing in Entrepreneurship
- For the best overall academic performance among graduates of the Faculty of Business Studies
In addition, a tree plantation programme was conducted to commemorate the late professor and to promote environmental sustainability.
