Strategic Planning and Review Workshop
The Strategic Planning and Review Workshop organised by the Faculty of Business Studies was conducted on
Wednesday, 18th December 2024, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The event took place at the Project Management Building
of the Faculty of Business Studies.

Event Highlights:

Registration commenced at 8:30 AM. Following registration, the welcome address was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies,
who emphasised stakeholders’ importance in strategic planning and monitoring. He outlined challenges, risks, and necessary improvements required to enhance the strategic initiatives. -
The Dean elaborated on challenges such as inadequate planning, limited resources, and insufficient finances.
He stressed the importance of an IT-based curriculum and highlighted eight core competencies essential for success:- System Thinking
- Emotional Intelligence
- Global Literacy
- Change Capability
- Digital Literacy
- Ethical Entrepreneurship
- Critical Thinking
- Business-ready Mindset
- The Vice Chancellor emphasised the significance of strategy, leadership, and strategic planning in achieving institutional goals.

Participants introduced themselves and presented the faculty’s strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations. Key takeaways included:
- Three core strengths or capacities of the faculty
- Three critical areas improved over the past 3 years
- Three key areas for improvement in the last 3 years
- The Chairperson outlined the objectives and outcomes of the workshop. This was followed by a presentation on progress and the draft strategic plan for 2025–2029.
Thematic Group Discussions:
Participants identified core areas for development and aligned their presentations with the following goals:
- Goal 01: Enhancing the Research Culture of the Faculty
- Goal 02: Improving the quality of teaching and learning
- Goal 03: Improving the performance of student extracurricular activities and student clubs
- Goal 04: Promoting community outreach activities and strengthening stakeholders’ networking
- Goal 05: Growing as an entrepreneurial faculty and MSME development
Closing Remarks:
Mr. S. Harikaran, Coordinator of the Committee for Strategic Planning and Monitoring, delivered the concluding remarks and vote of thanks.
