This project was organized with the dual purpose of fostering student creativity and promoting environmental responsibility within the faculty.<br \/>\nThe primary objective of this activity was to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encourage students to develop innovative ideas while being conscious of environmental sustainability.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate the possibility of creating useful products from recyclable and biodegradable materials.<\/li>\n<li> Cultivate creativity, teamwork, and social responsibility among the members of the HR Club.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Members of the HR Club collected and utilized recycled and natural materials such as cardboard, bamboo, coconut shells, and biodegradable resources to create pen holders that are both functional and aesthetically appealing.<br \/>\nThe process involved collaborative teamwork, idea generation, and hands-on crafting, allowing students to apply their innovative thinking in a practical context while also raising awareness about the importance of reducing waste and reusing available resources. The outcome of this project was a collection of unique and durable pen holders that not only serve everyday academic needs but also symbolize the club\u2019s commitment to integrating green practices into student activities.<br \/>\nThese eco-friendly pen holders were then sold to lecturers of the faculty, receiving positive feedback and appreciation, and the project also served as a small-scale income generation activity to support the future initiatives of the HR Club. This activity was organized with the primary objective of supporting the children while strengthening the bond between the faculty and the local community. The lunch boxes and water bottles were generously donated by Ms.Mathusha Croos, a 4th-year student of the HRM Degree Programme, reflecting the spirit of individual social responsibility within the student body.<br \/>\nThe HR Club members actively coordinated the distribution process and personally handed over the items to the pre-school students, ensuring that each child received a lunch box and a water bottle. Beyond meeting a practical need, the activity was designed to instill values of care, generosity and community service among the members of the HR Club, who were directly involved in both planning and execution.<br \/>\nThe parents and staff of Navajothi Pre-School expressed their deep appreciation for this thoughtful contribution. The session aimed to raise awareness about the legal protections, rights, and opportunities available to women under national laws, as well as to highlight ongoing challenges in achieving gender equality. Expert speakers shared valuable insights on topics such as workplace rights, protection against harassment, equal pay, and legal remedies available for violations. The seminar encouraged active discussion, allowing students to clarify doubts and deepen their understanding of gender-related legal issues. The session introduced key concepts such as workforce data collection, HR metrics, predictive analytics, and the use of technology to optimize HR functions. Expert speakers shared real-world case studies demonstrating how HR analytics can improve recruitment, employee engagement, performance management, and retention strategies. Participants gained a deeper understanding of how analytical tools can transform HR from a support function into a strategic partner. These handmade pen holders were then sold to fellow students and staff members, receiving enthusiastic support from the university community. The programme held on 12th and 13th of September 2024, the program focused on equipping students with the knowledge and skills to deliver effective drug prevention education to younger audiences in schools. This initiative is part of a larger effort to combat drug abuse by empowering students to act as ambassadors of drug prevention in their communities.The training program was conducted at BH2, Faculty of Business Studies with 15 university students participating from HR Department. The sessions were facilitated by experienced professionals from District Secretariat. The program covered a comprehensive curriculum on drug prevention, including the causes and effects of drug abuse, prevention strategies, and the role of education in curbing substance abuse. In addition to theoretical knowledge, participants engaged in practical exercises such as scenario-based learning, which helped them develop effective communication and presentation skills.<br \/>\nThroughout the program, the participants displayed great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to the cause. The interactive nature of the training allowed students to ask questions and engage in discussions, fostering a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding drug abuse and the best practices in prevention. The HR Club purchased dry rations that included rice, lentils, wheat flour, sugar, Milk Powder and other essential food items and also the club members volunteered to package the rations into individual packs for easy distribution. A formal distribution event was organized at the BH2 Lecture Hall at Faculty of Business Studies on 22nd August 2024 at 1.30 pm. The cleaning staff were invited to the event, where each received a package of dry rations. The project successfully provided dry rations to 27 cleaning staff members. The project of providing dry rations to the cleaning staff was a resounding success. It not only provided much-needed support but also strengthened the relationship between students, faculty, and the essential workers of the university. HR Club has initiated a Sugar Cane Juice Stall especially in this summer season with the aim of providing more hydrating juices to provide adequate vitamins and minerals that can boost immunity of the people. The juice stall was started from 10.30 am onwards.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The students and staffs along with their family members have enjoyed this event and tasted the sugar cane juice which is being made freshly by squeezing the sugar cane. The combination of the sugar cane\u2019s sweetness and the tangy hint of lemon has created a delightful taste that instantly transported attendees to a tropical paradise. The Sugar Cane Juice Stall was a resounding success event that have provided a unique enjoyable experience for the participants. The event attracted a large number of participants and was designed to encourage participants to express their creativity and passion for music. Each participant showcased unique musical styles, from classical to contemporary, captivating the audience with their performances.<br \/>\nIn the first round the songs were displayed in the HR Club YouTube and based on the likes they get from the audience best singers were selected. Then in the Second round, the judges evaluated contestants based on vocal technique and overall performance quality. After a series of outstanding performances, Ms. N. Mathurangani, Final Year Student, Department of Human Resource Management was crowned &#8220;Vocalist of the Year 2024&#8221;, with Ms. K. Sadhurshika and Ms. M. Kovarthani receiving runners up recognition for their performances. The winners were awarded with certificates of appreciation. The competition not only provided a platform for talented students to shine but also fostered a sense of community and celebration of the arts within the department. The major aim of this workshop is to introduce and familiarize the Canva tool for the students to use that tool to make interactive presentations and enhance their presentation and poster making skills. This webinar has given practical exposure and insights to the students to handle the Canva tool to make more effective, interactive and creative presentation slides and posters for their academic purposes.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Further, the resource person has also explained on the basics of graphic designing and elements to be considered before designing the presentation slides and posters. In-addition the resource person has also explained on making an attractive Curriculum Vitae for the students using FlowCV application in a brief manner. The students were actively participating in the session and practically designing the presentation slides and posters and taking part in the discussions. Organized by the HR Club, in collaboration with the HR Club and the Department of Human Resource Management (HRM) under the Faculty of Business Studies (FBS) at university of vavuniya, the event aimed to provide a natural and delicious treat to beat the heat.<br \/>\n<strong>Event Highlights:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe event featured a vibrant and inviting setup, adorned with palm leaves and coconuts to set the tropical ambiance. The stall proudly displayed Notice and tender coconuts creating a sense of excitement and anticipation among attendees.<br \/>\n<strong>Refreshing Treats:<\/strong><br \/>\nFrom 12.30 PM onwards, the stall started serving up its star attraction &#8211; the coconut kulukki juice. Made from fresh and natural coconuts, the juice provided a cool and rejuvenating experience for all participants. For females, the services included cleanup &#038; threading, facials, hair spa, hair cut &#038; hair care, and waxing. For males, the services included are haircut and hair styles. \u2018Suji &#038; Raji\u2019 Beauticians from Vavuniya offered services for females and \u2018Kiravun Salon\u2019 from Vavuniya provided services for males.<br \/>\n<strong>Event Details:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe grooming noon event was held in a convenience hall with ample seating arrangements for the customers. The clients were greeted by the HR Club members and were escorted to their seats. The seating arrangements were separately arranged for males and females. The beauticians and the salon barbers then consulted with each client to understand their requirements and offered customized beauty services accordingly.<br \/>\nThe event was well-organized, and the clients were served promptly. The HR Club members ensured that the clients were comfortable throughout the event. Around 60 students from the faculty, actively participated in this event. This In-door Tree planting campaign aims to address the multitude of issues associated with air pollution and restore the oxygen level at a considerable rate. Around 71 students from the Faculty of Business Studies actively participated in this event. DR. Sanduruwan Bandara Herath, the Consultant Anesthetic and intensivist at district general hospital Mullaitivu and DR. Dhanoja Wijesinghe, the Consultant Psychiatrist at district general hospital, Mullaitivu, were the Resource persons for this event.<br \/>\nDR. Sanduruwan Bandara Herath preceded the first session of this workshop, and in this session, a clear understanding of the online learning environment was given by him. At the end of this session, the students have gained knowledge on creating a conducive online learning environment to help them in their learning progress. The next session was on Stress Management, and DR. Dhanoja Wijesinghe conducted this. From this session, the students gained a comprehensive understanding of stress, and the students were given guidance to manage their stress effectively. Ms. M. R. F. Aqeela Ijas, Lecturer (Probationary) in HRM, was the resource person, and Human Resource Management specialization students have participated. This workshop&#8217;s primary objective is to enhance the ability of the students to do the presentation effectively. The workshop focused on how to prepare an effective presentation and which kinds of follow-ups should be carried out to make a presentation more appealing.
